And we'll make this quick but what is your favorite memory of going to or being at a park. You know this can be a specific day or it could be something that you do routinely at a park in Riverside or surrounding 00:45:44.000 --> 00:46:02.000 areas, but really wants to hear everyone's thoughts what really makes them enjoy going to parks. 00:46:02.000 --> 00:46:14.000 Right, we're getting lots of, lots of great things coming through. Kids playing big trees, running water, like disc golf 00:46:14.000 --> 00:46:23.000 social gatherings barbecues I'm seeing other disc golf Randy sense of place, walking and running in the park. 00:46:23.000 --> 00:46:24.000 All right. 00:46:24.000 --> 00:46:37.000 Keep those keep these in mind while we work through these slides and start talking about the sites along the Santa Ana river, feel free to continue dropping these into the chat because I think it's important to for everyone to start thinking, high level, 00:46:37.000 --> 00:46:41.000 what are they really enjoy when they go visit parks in the city of Riverside. 00:46:41.000 --> 00:46:45.000 Next slide please. 00:46:45.000 --> 00:47:00.000 So what is a master plan. Well master plan is an organization of programmatic elements. What I mean by that is, various activities that one can do in a park it might be a children's play area, it might be a picnic area. 00:47:00.000 --> 00:47:13.000 It's a variety of different activities that you know can be included in a park. And, you know, with that is, is a high level layout of those elements within, within the site. 00:47:13.000 --> 00:47:25.000 So what we're focusing on this evening is our first three sites for the the riverside gateway project, sweet, and we'll get into those sites in the next few slides here. 00:47:25.000 --> 00:47:28.000 Next slide please. 00:47:28.000 --> 00:47:41.000 Thanks, Matt, we want to remind you that we want to hear from you. So we're going to move through some initial slides just to just to orient ourselves and understand where where these parks are located within Riverside, but also the greater context really important is the Santa Ana River watershed. 00:48:50.000 --> 00:49:06.000 So watershed is, you know, it's an area that encompasses all of the all the drainage that essentially flows into the sand and river, so the Sand River begins in the San Bernardino mountains and Rose 96 miles south west down to the Pacific Ocean is drainage 00:49:06.000 --> 00:49:17.000 basin or watershed is the largest river basin in Southern California encompassing 2700 square miles, and runs through three counties and 17 cities. 00:49:17.000 --> 00:49:21.000 Next slide please. 00:49:21.000 --> 00:49:32.000 The watershed encompasses many different eco regions and bio homes that provides critical habitat for a variety of species and an important stopping point along the Pacific Flyway. 00:49:32.000 --> 00:49:35.000 Say please. 00:49:35.000 --> 00:49:49.000 While the boundaries were fluid. The combination of the two. I think that would be wonderful. 01:00:57.000 --> 01:01:07.000 And again, you can also add additional notes on the website on the interactive map. 01:01:07.000 --> 01:01:15.000 So moving on to our next site, it's me Loring Park. 01:01:15.000 --> 01:01:25.000 Learning Park is on the southeastern edge of Camp Evans and occupies a hillside just north of mission and Avenue and mount grupo 01:01:25.000 --> 01:01:34.000 here to cite photos showing the topography of the site and informal entrances and some of the mature trees on site. 01:01:34.000 --> 01:01:43.000 These are a few site notes, showing existing trails, and the very steep grade, beautiful mature trees. So with that elevation change takes about eight to 10 minutes to walk across. 01:02:02.000 --> 01:02:23.000 So some overarching Park improvement ideas, here's some overarching improvement ideas, including overlooks picnic areas railing your terrorist edge on Michigan Avenue art installations stone step entrances seating areas botanical walk specimen planting, 01:02:23.000 --> 01:02:30.000 but also separated out opportunities into passive and active options 01:02:30.000 --> 01:02:40.000 for the passive program options that would utilize the existing grain vegetation for nature based activities would include art installations overlooks shaded picnic areas. 01:02:40.000 --> 01:02:45.000 Terrorists nodes and nature trails. 01:02:45.000 --> 01:03:00.000 The passive spatial opportunities and organizes the program along a meandering path that would follow grades through the site with formal stairs connecting the site with camp Evans, and additional entrance chocolate enrolling. 01:03:00.000 --> 01:03:14.000 the proposed active program utilizes the existing grades for a series of active areas, including nature play areas group exercise deck hardcore elements, grand staircase and terrorist acts 01:03:14.000 --> 01:03:20.000 in this accurate spatial opportunities diagram, 01:03:20.000 --> 01:03:25.000 think we're going we're a little ahead of ourselves. 01:03:25.000 --> 01:03:29.000 Maybe a spatial site. 01:03:29.000 --> 01:03:41.000 We have a grand staircase connecting the site to camp Evans, the central path that connects to accessible entrance awkward airline, and additional entrance off not rubido road but terrace park where stations on the southeast side of the site and connects 01:03:41.000 --> 01:03:48.000 to the main trail, there's a large activity deck. 01:03:48.000 --> 01:03:51.000 And that we're going to have a whole. 01:03:51.000 --> 01:04:03.000 So, the same system is previously. So your top three. And there's gonna be two questions. 01:04:03.000 --> 01:04:20.000 Any additional program you'd like to see please add to the chat, where again go to the website, or humiliated. 01:04:20.000 --> 01:04:34.000 says wonderful keep those responses coming in, 01:04:34.000 --> 01:04:54.000 got about 50% participation, so keep on having them come in and I will end the poll in a few seconds. 01:04:54.000 --> 01:05:01.000 And here the results. 01:05:01.000 --> 01:05:20.000 Great, so you have overlooks nature trails terrorist attacks grandstand nature play shaded picnic areas art installations. 01:05:20.000 --> 01:05:44.000 Okay and then we'll move on to the next poll for the Laurel Park spatial opportunities comparison. 01:05:44.000 --> 01:06:00.000 And we have nearly 70% participation, I will send the whole in a few seconds. 01:06:00.000 --> 01:06:05.000 And here are the results. 01:06:05.000 --> 01:06:07.000 So a combination of the two. 01:06:07.000 --> 01:06:16.000 So having both passive and active program. 01:06:16.000 --> 01:06:19.000 Okay, see. 01:06:19.000 --> 01:06:26.000 Um, so we're going to be moving on to Carson Park. 01:06:26.000 --> 01:06:30.000 Carson parks at the last site we're going to be discussing tonight. 01:06:30.000 --> 01:06:39.000 Crossing park at St Francis Falls is just south of here Bevins off mission in Avenue at the base amount rubido 01:06:39.000 --> 01:06:53.000 here a few existing site photos showing the historic towers and we're in a VISTA drive the Santa Ana river bike path. Please call the phone number, email us or visit the website to share your thoughts about these parks. 01:12:04.000 --> 01:12:15.000 We do have one other question we want to ask you if you wouldn't mind. Could you let us know how you learned about tonight's workshop with the launch that poll right now. 01:12:15.000 --> 01:12:30.000 This helps us gauge where we should put our resources and how we advertise. These workshops, again as a reminder, this is the first of three virtual, and hopefully and or in person workshops, covering the first three sites tonight. 01:12:30.000 --> 01:12:36.000 the next three sites at the next event, and the final three sites at the third events. 01:12:36.000 --> 01:12:46.000 So we'd love to know how we can reach you better and please feel free to share that information with us. This is great. I'm going to go ahead and in that poll and share the results. 01:12:46.000 --> 01:12:57.000 It looks like we got a lot of you because of flyers from colleagues and by email so we will continue to use those channels as well as other opportunities, 01:12:57.000 --> 01:13:02.000 then that would you like to take this final question. 01:13:02.000 --> 01:13:18.000 Sure we want to ask you, as we move forward. This was the first three sites that we will be discussing and will have two additional virtual community workshops, but many other ways for you all to engage with the project through the website of project 01:13:18.000 --> 01:13:20.000 input map. 01:13:20.000 --> 01:13:28.000 And through the email and phone number that's listed on the website you can reach out to us anytime with any feedback that you have any questions that you may have. 01:13:28.000 --> 01:13:43.000 If you would like to request more information please do so, but we want to hear from you all. What's the success look like. Now that we've gone through a little bit of the visioning exercise with these first three sites and I know it's a lot to digest 01:13:43.000 --> 01:14:04.000 and kind of comprehend. And it was for us as well it's a lot of information and we're trying to really, you know, extracted into a really easy presentation for you all but we really want some feedback on what you think success looks like for these products. 01:14:04.000 --> 01:14:12.000 And go ahead and put your answers in the chat. Yes. 01:14:12.000 --> 01:14:23.000 So let's see we're seeing restore St Francis falls, safe and usable 01:14:23.000 --> 01:14:29.000 open and friendly space for families, 01:14:29.000 --> 01:14:33.000 new disc golf course. 01:14:33.000 --> 01:14:39.000 Safe inclusive green space trees for people and wildlife. 01:14:39.000 --> 01:14:47.000 Housing our population experiencing homelessness. 01:14:47.000 --> 01:14:51.000 I'm seeing this golf again archery. Right. This is great. 01:14:51.000 --> 01:14:55.000 This golf archery parking, well maintained. 01:14:55.000 --> 01:15:11.000 And so, that being said, there really are many more opportunities we have eight. Eight sites, total with much more, you know, much, much more land available for any activities that we cannot that are not feasible to include at Camp Evans Loring park or 01:15:11.000 --> 01:15:25.000 St Francis falls. We really, you know, enjoy receiving this feedback because it really helps us think about the other projects downstream, in the city of Riverside that are part of this project sweet. 01:15:25.000 --> 01:15:29.000 So thank you all for these comments 01:15:29.000 --> 01:15:42.000 that since we have a little bit of time I was hoping we could answer asking questions of our panelists and our society represents, and I'm going to go through and get through some of these questions and invite anybody who wants to answer them to do so, 01:15:42.000 --> 01:15:54.000 we have a comment from one of our participants about when we're going to accept public comments, as part of this meeting, please send them our way send shots and incentive through the websites and voicemail send it through email. 01:15:54.000 --> 01:16:09.000 These are designed sites so this is just really us, providing opportunity to share opportunities to learn from you for what you want, and they'll be lots of time to continue to do so. 01:16:09.000 --> 01:16:30.000 I'm Kristin real quick. I just wanted to confirm. So, at the project website, it's a good opportunity for people to mull over the information, a little bit longer and deeper before they provide additional information. 01:16:30.000 --> 01:16:34.000 So the website is a good, good place to go. 01:16:34.000 --> 01:16:45.000 This presentation is being recorded so that you can go back later and look at some of the exhibits in more detail and give even further comments, then you may already have. 01:16:45.000 --> 01:17:04.000 So, and then our input math is also another way you wanted to put a comment in particularly for Carlson, same principles, you can drop a pin right there and your comment will be related directly to that Parkside. 01:17:04.000 --> 01:17:09.000 Thank you. 01:17:09.000 --> 01:17:14.000 Sorry I'm trying to do two things at once and I'm sending them. I'm sending them. 01:17:14.000 --> 01:17:19.000 The link to our website through the chat too so you can quickly go there. 01:17:19.000 --> 01:17:26.000 I'm going to go back to the part of our presentation that shows were on the website you can interact. 01:17:26.000 --> 01:17:28.000 So give me one second. 01:17:28.000 --> 01:17:37.000 Okay, so here's our project website and you can do that by going to Riverside gateway parks. com. There's no ww although I think that gets you there too. 01:17:37.000 --> 01:17:45.000 And on the web page you'll see this is the landing page and see about interactive map survey. 01:17:45.000 --> 01:17:49.000 And if you click on interactive map, you'll be taken here. 01:17:49.000 --> 01:17:56.000 And on this map you can go in and click around and add comments to various locations as as Lisa just mentioned. 01:17:56.000 --> 01:18:11.000 There's also a survey which asks you questions, kind of prompt you with questions about the sites, and your thoughts. But if you have just have general comments or have a general question that you'd prefer to be anonymous please feel free to use our phone 01:18:11.000 --> 01:18:15.000 number or email address. 01:18:15.000 --> 01:18:20.000 And I think there was another question on here about will there be parking. 01:18:20.000 --> 01:18:27.000 Can I open that up to the panel to answer 01:18:27.000 --> 01:18:33.000 depends on the site, 01:18:33.000 --> 01:18:47.000 Yeah, just to answer that. Exactly as Elise was saying as far as parking and providing parking adequate parking would have to be provided for whatever amenities are being that the community wants. 01:18:47.000 --> 01:19:04.000 And so, If the community wanted a really active park, for example Fairmont Park we would need to provide adequate parking in that park and I noticed that for Loring that I think it was identified that maybe a little bit more passive users were there, 01:19:04.000 --> 01:19:12.000 so less parking would be required. And maybe it's just a while it is just a neighborhood park so it's more of a walk to the park. 01:19:12.000 --> 01:19:27.000 Parking Lot would not likely even be provided a park like a morning Park, because it'd be a passive views. And people would be walking in from the river to us that are core walking in from the neighborhood or such there might be some, a little bit of 01:19:27.000 --> 01:19:30.000 on street parking. 01:19:30.000 --> 01:19:35.000 And if you do maybe if US dollars but not much more than that. 01:19:35.000 --> 01:19:47.000 I've seen comments about how much people appreciate this virtual platform, and we will continue to offer this as an option, it does help everybody with their busy lives so definitely this in or hybrid moving forward. 01:19:47.000 --> 01:19:58.000 And there's also questions about what's planned for these various locations and just again to remind you that we don't have any set plans, these are just all ideas, concepts things to get your juices. 01:19:58.000 --> 01:20:16.000 Is that the right word juices flowing thinking about what's possible. A very talented group of designers and planners and engineers that are on our team but it's your park is your parks, these are, this is your river, and we want to hear what you want, 01:20:16.000 --> 01:20:28.000 just to reinforce that these are the community Spark, this input is critical, as I've been watching the polls I think about 50 people online right now, this is being recorded. 01:20:28.000 --> 01:20:42.000 So, 50 people at a community meeting. That is great. But this is just one community meeting, this is being recorded and we're trying to drive as many people to the website as possible, which is another resource. 01:20:42.000 --> 01:20:49.000 Tell your friends have them come to the site, you know, share this information, they can watch this online. 01:20:49.000 --> 01:21:07.000 And just the more input we get the better the more reflective that the designs will be what the committee actually wants and needs so it's really important that we get as much input as possible. 01:21:07.000 --> 01:21:13.000 Randy I saw a couple of questions in the chat regarding funding and timeline for these projects. 01:21:13.000 --> 01:21:31.000 I think it's important to go back to, you know, what we explained in the beginning of the presentation that this process is really a master plan, a high level concept to look at the sights and what the the opportunities may look like the the timeline 01:21:31.000 --> 01:21:42.000 for each site would be individually set based on funding received through various measures, whether it be local funding state funding at times federal funding. 01:21:42.000 --> 01:21:54.000 And so it's it's really this process has a completion date for the master plans and the environmental compliance work of june of 2023. 01:21:54.000 --> 01:22:08.000 So I think that's important to note that this this process for these, these sites all on the San and wherever within the city of Riverside, is, is really a high level approach looking at a master plan for these sites which then could be let into more 01:22:08.000 --> 01:22:25.000 specific design and then construction for these specific projects based on funding. 01:22:25.000 --> 01:22:40.000 I noticed there was also question regarding is I think in general we get this question often now in parks, we never used to have this question and the 20 plus years that I've been designing parks, but how are we going to deal with homeless people in parks 01:22:40.000 --> 01:23:01.000 and, and it comes up at every meeting now and one of the ways that the city is doing that we have a piece at public safety and engagement team that currently works in all of our parks to facilitate providing services to unless we also have a pans program 01:23:01.000 --> 01:23:10.000 that is in its infancy that we're hiring right now which is Park and neighborhood. 01:23:10.000 --> 01:23:27.000 Under PD that, especially the park and neighborhood specialists that are on banner PD and help facilitate keeping our parks, safe, and there's also things that are designers are excellent designers can do to design. 01:23:27.000 --> 01:23:45.000 In, in a lighting cameras landscaping, that will help minimize you know areas where people will actually want to be, or be able to hide we want to make sure it's clear and visibility is and so those kinds of things those design ideas will be implemented 01:23:45.000 --> 01:23:47.000 in anything that we do. 01:23:47.000 --> 01:24:07.000 And so it's sort of a three fold plan, again we never used to have to do this but now we are becoming experts on and addressing you know the homeless and making sure that we do it up front and not be reactive and be proactive in our, in our thought process 01:24:07.000 --> 01:24:20.000 of this. 01:24:20.000 --> 01:24:32.000 We have no other comments from our team and Randy Elisa, would you like to close this out, or I just go ahead. Sorry. 01:24:32.000 --> 01:24:47.000 No, I just, I just want to say real quick and that I appreciate everyone's time, I know your time is valuable. And, but your opinion is all is really valuable and just to for you to take this time, and share your thoughts. 01:24:47.000 --> 01:24:59.000 This is amazing. It's exciting. This is a great, great project we have the California coast Conservancy on board that gave us this funding to do the design work and and and environmental work. 01:24:59.000 --> 01:25:15.000 And it is very likely that they will support at least be a partner and trying to get construction dollars to implement what the community's vision at so again thank you, thank you very much for your time and your work in helping us come up with designs 01:25:15.000 --> 01:25:36.000 us. Now quick I'm going to jump in and just remind everybody if you could please go to the website and put your email into the mailing list just so that you get any future communications about this project, especially if you joined via the flyer or something 01:25:36.000 --> 01:25:42.000 else and you haven't already been to the website, please go and add your name in and Randy said thank you you guys. 01:25:42.000 --> 01:25:55.000 We want the part to be for the community, by the community so thank you for your time. 01:25:55.000 --> 01:26:00.000 And I think with that, we're ready to say good night to everybody. 01:26:00.000 --> 01:26:08.000 Think we have Kristen screen. 01:26:08.000 --> 01:26:16.000 Alright, well thanks everybody so much really appreciate it and we're really excited about working with everybody on these. 01:26:16.000 --> 01:26:22.000 Thank you. thank you design team for sparking our imaginations do 01:26:22.000 --> 01:26:24.000 stated. 01:26:24.000 --> 01:26:35.000 Okay.
